Since the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church has consecrated the
month of May to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
In
the Catholic world, the faithful honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in a special way
during the month of May. Processions to honor the Virgin take place in many
locations and the believers pray with greater fervor the different prayers that
are consecrated to Mary and especially the Rosary (to pray the Rosary in Hebrew here).
In 1965, Pope Paul VI, in a special letter for the month of May,
encouraged the faithful to preserve this tradition. He wrote there: « May she who experienced the cares and
hardships of earthly life, the weariness of daily toil, the hardships and
trials of poverty, and the sorrows of Calvary, come to aid the needs of the
Church and the human race ».
